HELLO

Not much to report except--it is BEAUTIFUL here today-73 degrees and just awesome out. We had to turn on the AC and I am wearing shorts. Not bad for Feb 28th!
Adam is still in interview mode with an HVAC company. Good ole VA DMV screwed him and suspended his license stating that he was not insured. Even though he switched from VA insurance to NV. Progressive is dealing with it. Poor guy-does everything right and still gets the shaft. I went to an interview for an insurance company. They wanted everyone to write a check or give cc numbers to pay 159.00 for insurance licenses in NV. So, let me just point out that I was called for an interview and they wanted to give me a job, but I had to pay them money to get started. Ah, no I do not think so. I have spoke with someone from SAIC out here and he is going to try and help me out. Just applying to everything I can find. Job searching blows.
March will be busy for us: Adam turns 29 on the 8th, Jenny and Lorie are coming out on the 13th to spend some time with us, Becca will be out the following weekend and my sister in law will be out here the same week. LOVE it, LOVE it, LOVE it--get to have some home here in NV.
It is really pretty so if you are coming out--mid 70's during the day with tons of sunshine. Average at night is 48 degrees.
Adam says hello to everyone. I am making spaghetti for dinner, so I have to get movin. I miss all of you!

Everything happens for a reason

...I hate this cliche-especially when my mother uses it after I have had an intense break up and I want to rip someone's throat out-but it does, "everything happens for a reason." Adam went for an interview today and it went super well-more money, his own company vechicle, can sell equipment, etc. Then he dropped by another HVAC place and they want to hire him too. So he has two offers and both hiring managers know each other and took little verbal stabs at one another. In other words--bidding war:)
I have an interview tomorrow with some company that I don't even remember applying to. All I know is they were on career builder. So sad, I apply so much I cannot keep anything straight. I also contacted two placement agencies, applied to the county and to UNLV.

So...if everything happens for a reason, why the hell am I not getting a job. Is the job fairy going to come down and slap the crap out of me and then I will have this great job?
Anyway...cold today and rain BOO!
So after the hiring and everything we are going to celebrate...VEGAS STYLE!

OKAY..so

In response to the crazy email that Adam sent out this morning...

We are both getting really frustrated with this job thing and it sent Adam a little over the edge. He applied for a job last Monday and they immediately sent him for the drug test and he was told, "we will contact you in 48hrs." Well, Friday came and nothing-so he called HR but never received a call back until Monday. She said, "see you tomorrow." So, he got up and arrived (had to be there at 7am) only to hear from the residential sales manager, "we don't need you-you are not a fit." Here is the deal: Adam does residential HVAC (heating and air cond.). Out here commericial is huge (ah, the casinos alone). He has never steered anyone wrong and he admits, "I don't know commericial HVAC." So, when he went in for the interview the commericial guy said they needed residential people when they don't. Long story short: no communication and they wasted his time. What he does not understand is this: it is HVAC and Vegas gets Africa HOT! He just needs to not rely on the internet and get out there and stop by businesses and drop resumes. He is upset, but it will get better.

I on the other hand cannot find a damn thing so I will be slinging drinks...Viva Las Vegas. I said recently to someone, "for a place built on money and the amount of mercedes, BMW's and hummers I see-someone is making money." The reply, "Yea-they are in hospitality. I know a bartender who currently makes 10K a month and works 4 days." F it....bar here I come!

Oh and you know how nothing surprises me..WRONG. At my gym yesterday, a lady working out about 7 months pregnant with booty shorts and sports bra. We are talking Demi Moore from the cover of Vanity Fair. Now really--who wants to see that????

Checking in...

Yesterday Adam and I went to see Tara so he could get his laser treatment. The ladies that did the lasering were so funny--they kept trying to tell him how to get into certain positions. I told them, "you need to say-cup your junk and move it." He was a trooper until they did his butt. His butt muscles were flinching uncontrollably. I should not laugh because I know it hurt.
He is fine though-no side effects. We ended up going to Tara and Mike's for some pizza and she and I polished off about 3 bottles of wine.

The weather is beautiful today! I am going to head out and run some errands and enjoy all the sunshine.
Have a great weekend!

Happy V DAY

So after having 72mph winds in some places last night I woke up to a chilly 37 degree morning here in the valley. I went to my interview and it went well, but they are interviewing about 15 people today so I need to wait for a call...gotta love the waiting game.
I went and got a pedicure to treat myself to some V day love. I found this place that has the best pedies-not sure what they use but I got a pedicure over a month ago and the polish has not chipped once. My nails grew out so it was about time for a polish change.
Adam and I went to Cheesecake Factory for some lunch and that is about it.
Nothing really exciting-it is cold here. High of low 50 but had some torrential winds.

Hope all is well back east-miss all of you terribly!

HAPPY BDAY HD Kurz and happy V day to all the lovers

Valentines day is upon us and I am sure all the restaurants will be super busy tomorrow. Adam and I are going to do lunch instead of dinner. I have an early interview in the am (2nd interview with Cintas). I have to take a personality test-geez, I may never get hired. Adam is waiting to hear back from a job that he interviewed with on Monday.
It was really beautiful here today, but super windy. My lawn chairs kept blowing over on the porch. Bad Fish is coming to the House of Blues on Friday so I think we are going to hit that up. 15.00 a ticket and one of the original members of Sublime is going to perform with them.
Tara (a friend of Cheryl's that we were introduced to) called today to see if she could laser Adam. She is an aesthetician and men have been coming in wanting their "undercarriage"lasered. Adam expressed interest so she is going to practice on him first--cracks me up!
So he will be getting all smooth on Friday. Hope he is not too itchy for the concert!

Happy BDAY Kurz!!

Welcome to Red Rock

Adam and I hit Red Rock this weekend for some hiking. It is really a cool place. The weather was awesome! Mid 60' on Saturday and 70's Sunday. We went and checked out Red Rock casino and took a trip to the Las Vegas speedway. I went to Carmax to check out some cars (I am in the market for a new ride).
So a pretty laid back weekend in Nevada--driving around and hitting up some scenery.

I know, I know...over a week and no post

Super Bowl was fun-what a freakin upset! I knew I should have went with my gut feeling, I am super happy the Giants won. Poor pretty boy Brady-BOO HOO!

So we had peeps over that night and drank it up. Cheryl did not leave on Monday as planned so we had a house guest until Wednesday. I went for an interview this week for Cintas (yes, the uniform people). It went well and I went back for a ride along with a sales rep (that is what I would do). I have a second interview on Thursday with the VP of sales and the Pres of marketing. It seems promising BUT...I have to do cold call sales. In other words, walk into a restaurant/bar and cold sell. I personally hate sales people so I am apprehensive about becoming one. I need a job-so I am going for it. I will have a base salary and then commissions (that is what it is all about). They will train me for 13 weeks and then after 30 days benefits, after 90 days 401K. They pay for car insurance and quite a few other perks. Sales are sales--I am going to have to bust my ass. I am not the type to push things on people (besides myself and cocktails) so I am not sure. Once they are like "not interested--okay." Not in this job it is about making them feel like they need the product. I will be selling to the restaurant bizness--so I do understand that environment so I can come off with some knowledge.

Adam's job did not pan out so he is back to looking. I swear I need some cash flow--I WANNA GO OUT!! I live in VEGAS!

We are going to go check out Red Rock tomorrow and do some hiking so I will make sure to post pictures.

I want to go see Phantom of the Opera and Adam wants to check out Monty Python's Spamalot so those are the next two things on the list.

We are pretty boring, but making it.

By the way...capris and a t shirt today-it was mid 60's with unbelievable sunshine. I love this place. Remind me I said this when it is Africa HOT.
